Milan’s fall 2022 fashion week wrapped up with stunning shows, expected and unexpected surprises, and highlights from noteworthy up-and-coming designers.
Celebrity appearances from Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Jacob Elordi and Euphoria co-star Hunter Shafer, and Prada-clad TikTok star Charli D’Amelio enticed the crowd. Gucci debuted their first-ever collaboration with Adidas, mixing both brands’ bold colors and patterns in matching suits.
Georgio Armani showed respect to the current climate of Eastern Europe by choosing not to play music during his show, instead having models walk the runway in silence. He says it’s important to “send a message that we don’t want to celebrate because something very disturbing is happening around us.”
We saw a few new designers hit the fashion scene, namely: Lara Chamandi, Francesco Murano, Sapio, and Durazzi Milano. Each brings a unique flare on menswear with strong silhouettes and sharp lines.
Overarching trends for the fall collections include sharp, tailored blazers and touches of velvet, leather, and sherpa (a continuation we’ve seen over the past few years.) Diesel produced their first runway appearance with oversized, destructed denim, a trend we’re still seeing today with the rise in popularity of baggy/straight-legged jeans.
Other notable mentions include Jacqeumus’ 24/24 pop-up shop selling all-white merchandise with gold metal logo detailing that sold out in mere minutes. We also saw designer Sohee Park show off luxurious gowns with sophisticated embroidery with support from Dolce & Gabbana.
