The Big 4
Known around the world as the The Big 4 (sometimes The Big Four), the Fashion Week events in New York, London, Milan and Paris are hallmarks of the fashion industry.
Affectionately referred to as The Big 4 (sometimes The Big Four) affectionately refers to the 4 countries with the most notable Vogue covers. (Those being American Vogue, British Vogue, Goeu Paris and Vogue Italia.) Following suit, these four cities have remained the headquarters of high fashion.
An admirer of fashion from seam to seam, Nikki Brar embraces the industry for more than just its trends. (Though she keeps a close eye on those, too!) Nikki also loves to dive into fashion history and the traditions that have outlived every trend to date. Of course, one of those trends-turned-traditions is the Big 4 — Fashion Week in the four fashion capitals of the world. New York Fashion Week
Upcoming Event: February 10th thru February 14th 2022
Closest to home, NYFW is Nikki Brar’s homebase. Officially established in 1993 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), NYFW was initially inspired by the 1943 event “Press Week.” Decades on, the semi-annual series, which takes place in February and September every year, sets the tone for American style of the moment. Nikki eagerly awaits the NYFW series each and every year; she also plans to share updates and sneak peeks with her readers at NYFW 2022!
London Fashion Week
Upcoming Event: February 18th 2022 thru February 22nd 2022
LFW was inaugurated in 1983 by the British Fashion Council (BFC). In 2010, the series became the first FW of the Big Four to stream ceremonies live. Today, streaming of the event is more accessible than ever before, which makes getting a sneak peak of the latest designs even more exciting for Nikki Brar!
Milan Fashion Week
Upcoming Event: February 22nd thru February 28th 2022
MFW first took place in 1958, with organization from the National Chamber of Italian Fashion (NCIF), a non-profit association which highlights and promotes the fashion designs and designers of Italy. By far, Nikki Brar has always viewed Milan as the true FW capital of the world, with its featured collections always sparking the style of the season year after year.
Paris Fashion Week
Upcoming Event: February 28th 2022 thru March 8th 2022
PFW was inaugurated in 1973 by the Fresh Fashion Federation (FFF). Long before its official establishment, FW was a nonchalant tradition formerly referred to as “salon shows.” Nikki Brar notes and adores the fashion forward nature of Paris to have hosted fashion weeks before ‘Fashion Week’ officially existed!
